“He was a good friend of the local Indians.”

Ancestor: John Hoare

Descendant: Harry W.

John Hoare, son of Chares and Johanna Hoare, relocated to Concord from Scituate, Mass. in about 1650.

He was a good friend of the local Indians, established a center for them, and most famously arranged for the return of Mary Rowlandson following her abduction by Indians during King Philip's war.

There is a stone plaque recognizing this in Massachusetts known as Redemption Rock.
